- Social work, spiritual and bereavement support
What Families Typically Pay
Under the Medicare and Medi-Cal hospice benefit, there is typically no out-of-pocket cost for hospice services.

Insurance Questions Families Ask
Does Medicare cover hospice care at home?
Yes. For eligible patients, the Medicare Hospice Benefit covers hospice care wherever the patient lives, including private homes, assisted living and nursing facilities.
Does hospice cover room and board in a nursing home?
Generally, no. The hospice benefit covers hospice services, but not room and board in a nursing home or assisted living facility, except during short-term inpatient or respite stays. Medi-Cal may help with room and board for eligible patients.
What if my loved one has both Medicare and Medi-Cal?
Patients with Medi-Medi coverage can receive hospice care, and our team coordinates between both programs for you.
How long does it take to verify insurance?
We work quickly to verify eligibility and obtain any needed authorization. In many cases, care can begin the same day.
