Routine Hospice Care

Comfort and Care in the Place Your Loved One Calls Home

Routine hospice care is the most common level of hospice care. Our team visits your loved one on a regular schedule wherever they live, managing pain and symptoms, supporting the family, and making sure every day is as comfortable and meaningful as possible.

What It Is

What Is Routine Hospice Care?

Routine hospice care is for patients whose symptoms can be managed at home with regular support. Instead of frequent trips to the hospital, care comes to your loved one. Visits are planned around their individual needs, and the plan changes as those needs change.

Between visits, families are never on their own. Our nurses are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays, to answer questions or come out when something changes.

FAQ

Questions About Routine Hospice Care

How often will the hospice team visit?

It depends on your loved one’s needs. Visit schedules are set in the plan of care and adjusted as needs change. Our nurses are also available by phone 24/7 between visits.

Does hospice provide 24-hour caregivers in the home?

Routine hospice care provides scheduled visits, not around-the-clock caregivers. Family members or hired caregivers usually provide day-to-day care, and our team supports and teaches them. If symptoms become severe, continuous care may be available.

Can my loved one receive routine hospice care in a nursing home or assisted living?

Yes. Our team visits patients in assisted living communities, board-and-care homes and skilled nursing facilities, working alongside the facility staff.

Can my loved one keep their own doctor?

Yes. Your loved one’s primary physician can stay involved and work with our hospice physician.
